Ingredients

  • 2lbs Chicken Thigh (Boneless Skinless)
  • 1/3 cup Bourbon (whiskey Apple juice or broth)
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp Cold water
  • to taste Salt & Pepper

Instructions

  1. 1Season the chicken thighs with salt & pepper on both sides and place them in the bottom of the crockpot.
  2. 2In a medium bowl add the bourbon, brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic. Stir well to combine. Pour over the chicken in the crockpot.
  3. 3Cover with the lid and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 3 hours.
  4. 4Add the cornstarch and water in a small bowl and whisk until combined. Whisk the cornstarch slurry into the sauce 30 minutes before the chicken is done cooking. This will thicken the sauce.
  5. 5Enjoy the chicken over rice and garnish with green onions.

Dinner That Cooks While You're Gone

The crock pot is the appliance that gave everyone dinner back — five minutes in the morning, eight hours untouched, and a full meal waiting when the day ends.

Cooks on Pepper reach for this collection on the busiest weeks — the mornings when packing lunches and browning meat feels like a lot.

Every recipe here is built for the slow cooker specifically — dump-and-go dinners, low-and-slow braises, and family-size meals that come out tender from the long, gentle cook.

Quick Tips

  1. 1

    Brown the meat first

Ten extra minutes in a skillet before the crock — night-and-day flavor difference.

  2. 2

    Don't lift the lid

Every peek adds 20 minutes to the cook time — trust the timer.

  3. 3

    Layer smart

Root vegetables on the bottom, protein on top — they cook slowest and need the direct heat.

  4. 4

    Add dairy at the end

Cream, cheese, and sour cream go in the last 30 minutes — they'll break if they cook all day.
