Open in Pepper →A jar of dried parsley, dill, chives and garlic powder on the shelf means dressing, dip and a chicken rub are always ten minutes away. Once you've stirred it yourself, you start noticing how much salt the packets carry.
Cooks on Pepper reach for these when the veggie tray needs a dip, the salad needs dressing, or a plain chicken breast needs help before dinner at six.
Every recipe here is the real thing: No Sodium Ranch Seasoning Mix and Ranch Seasoning Mix for the pantry, Homemade Ranch Salad Dressing and Kiki's Homemade Ranch Dressing/Dip with buttermilk and sour cream, plus Creamy Avocado Ranch Dip and Christie's Avocado Ranch Dip when you want it thick and green.
Crush the dried herbs
Rub the parsley and dill between your palms for a few seconds before mixing so the flakes break down and spread through the blend.
Let the dressing rest
Stir the mix into mayo, sour cream and buttermilk, then chill at least 30 minutes so the dried herbs soften and the garlic mellows.
Thin with buttermilk slowly
Add buttermilk one tablespoon at a time until it coats a spoon for dressing; leave it out entirely if you want a thick dip.
Store the mix airtight
Keep the dry seasoning in a sealed jar away from the stove and use it within about 6 months while the herbs still smell strong.
