Open in Pepper →Wings coated in a dry rub come out crisp on the outside without a sticky sauce all over your hands and your counter. You toss them with oil and seasoning, spread them out, and let the heat do the rest.
Cooks on Pepper reach for this collection on game days, on nights when dinner is finger food, and any time there's a bag of wings in the freezer and nothing thawed.
Every recipe here keeps it simple: dry rub air fryer wings with chipotle BBQ rub, plain baked chicken wings with just oil and salt, lemon rosemary air fryer wings with garlic powder and paprika, and crispy oven-baked wings that start out frozen.
Pat the wings dry
Blot wings with paper towels before oiling them; even 2 minutes of drying makes a big difference in how crisp the skin gets.
Oil first, then rub
Toss wings with about 1 tablespoon of olive oil per pound, then add the rub so it sticks evenly instead of clumping.
Leave room between wings
Arrange them in a single layer with space around each one, and cook in 2 batches if the basket or pan is crowded.
Flip them halfway
Turn wings once at the halfway mark and cook until they hit 165°F, usually 20 to 25 minutes in an air fryer.
