Why Cobb Salad Keeps Its Spot

The rule of a Cobb is proportion: neat rows of chicken, bacon, egg, avocado, cheese, and tomato so every forkful lands a little of everything.

Cooks on Pepper adapt it endlessly — Fall Harvest with apples and pecans, Southwest with black beans and corn, or tofu when they want it plant-forward.

It's the salad that eats like a meal — high protein, hits every texture, and holds up in the fridge for lunch tomorrow.

Quick Tips

  1. 1

    Rows, not tossed

The classic Cobb is composed in strips — toss right before eating so every bite has everything.

  2. 2

    Egg quality matters

Jammy 7-minute eggs beat hard-boiled if you're going to be the one plating it.

  3. 3

    Bacon crispy, then chopped

Chop after it cools — hot bacon shatters.

  4. 4

    Dressing on the side

Cobb salads sit heavy under too much dressing — let people add their own.
