Open in Pepper →There's a reason everybody reaches for the breadstick basket first. Soft in the middle, brushed with butter and garlic salt on top, and best about five minutes out of the oven.
Cooks on Pepper pull these out on spaghetti night, next to a pot of soup, or when the kids want something to do with their hands on a rainy afternoon.
Every recipe here is a yeast dough you can handle: copycat Olive Garden breadsticks, homemade Olive Garden breadsticks, soft and garlicky breadsticks, and a straightforward Olive Garden breadsticks batch that makes a full pan.
Check your water temperature
Yeast likes water around 110°F — warm on your wrist, not hot. Too hot and it won't rise at all.
Let the dough double
Give it about 1 hour in a covered, greased bowl in a warm spot until it's doubled in size.
Roll them even
Divide the dough into 12 pieces and roll each into a 7-inch rope so they bake at the same rate.
Butter them twice
Brush with melted butter before baking, then again the second they come out, and sprinkle with garlic salt.
