Open in Pepper →Ranch is the dressing everybody in the house will actually eat, and the homemade kind tastes like buttermilk and dill instead of the bottle. It takes one bowl and a whisk.
Cooks on Pepper reach for these when there's a salad to dress, raw carrots and celery to put out before dinner, or wings and pizza crust that need something to dip in.
Every recipe here is a real ranch: classic Buttermilk Ranch with mayo, sour cream, and buttermilk, a Cottage Cheese Ranch Dip, High Protein Avocado Ranch Dressing, Creamy Carnivore Ranch Dressing, and a No Sodium Ranch Seasoning Mix to keep in the pantry.
Chill it an hour
Ranch tastes flat right after mixing. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour so the garlic, onion, and dill soften into the base.
Thin with buttermilk
For dip, use about 1/4 cup buttermilk; for pourable dressing, add another 2 to 4 tablespoons until it runs off the whisk.
Blend the chunky ones
Avocado, cilantro, or cottage cheese versions need 30 to 60 seconds in a blender to get smooth instead of grainy.
Crush dried herbs first
Rub 1 tablespoon dried parsley and 1 teaspoon dill between your palms before adding so they release more flavor.
