A Bowl of Fruit Dip Fixes Everything

Fruit dip is the thing you stir together in five minutes and set next to a plate of strawberries and apple slices, and suddenly the kids are eating fruit without a word from you. Two or three ingredients, one bowl, no oven.

Cooks on Pepper reach for these when there's a potluck Saturday, a church supper, a game day spread, or a Tuesday afternoon when the kids come home hungry and dinner is still an hour out.

Every recipe here is a real bowl someone made and saved: Cream Cheese Fruit Dip with marshmallow fluff and Cool Whip, a Sugar free fruit dip made with instant pudding and sour cream, Key Lime Pie Fruit Dip, Brown Sugar Maple Fruit Dip, and a Red, White, & Blue Fruit Dip with strawberries and blueberries.

Quick Tips

  1. 1

    Soften the cream cheese

Let an 8 oz block sit out 30 to 45 minutes before mixing, or it will stay lumpy no matter how long you beat it.

  2. 2

    Beat before you fold

Whip the cream cheese smooth for 2 minutes first, then fold in the marshmallow fluff or Cool Whip by hand so it stays light.

  3. 3

    Chill an hour first

An hour in the fridge lets the vanilla and brown sugar settle in and thickens the dip enough to cling to apple slices.

  4. 4

    Keep sliced fruit bright

Toss apple or banana slices with 1 tablespoon of lemon or pineapple juice so they don't brown on the platter.
