Ingredients

  • 4 jars Peach pie filling
  • enough to cover top Yellow cake mix
  • enough to cover top Oats
  • 1 stick Butter

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your oven to 350°.
  2. 2Dump all 4 jars of peach filling into a ceramic casserole dish or other non-stick baking dish and smooth out so that it’s even.
  3. 3Generously coat the top of the peaches with yellow box cake mix but DO NOT mix it! Add oats on top of the cake mix and again, DO NOT mix!
  4. 4Cut your butter into small pads and place them across the whole dish. Try to cover as much of the top with butter as you can (make sure the pads are thin and not too thick though).
  5. 5Stick the dish into the oven for about 30 minutes or until it gets bubbly and golden.
  6. 6Serve hot with vanilla ice cream or on its own! Enjoy!

Short Ingredient Lists That Still Taste Like Home

Some of the best things that come out of an oven only take three or four ingredients. Ripe bananas and butter. Peanut butter, sugar, an egg. You don't need a long list to end up with something people stand around the pan and eat.

Cooks on Pepper reach for these when the afternoon got away from them and someone still wants dessert, or when the bananas on the counter have gone spotty and it's that or the trash can.

Every recipe here keeps it simple: Banana bread and Rich & Moist Banana Bread, 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter cookies, PB Chocolate Chip Cookies, Easy 4 Ingredient Peach Crisp, 4-ingredient mixed berry cobbler, 4 Ingredient Red Velvet Cookies, Traditional Scottish Shortbread, and a 4 Ingredient Artisan Bread.

Quick Tips

  1. 1

    Use very ripe bananas

Wait until the peels are mostly brown and spotty — those bananas mash smooth and sweeten the loaf without extra sugar.

  2. 2

    Slice the butter cold

For cobbler, cut the stick into thin pats and scatter them over the dry cake mix so it browns in patches instead of pooling.

  3. 3

    Don't overbake the cookies

Peanut butter cookies pull out at 8 to 10 minutes while the centers still look soft; they finish setting on the hot pan.

  4. 4

    Cool bread before slicing

Give banana bread at least 20 minutes in the pan, then finish on a rack, or the middle tears when your knife goes through.
