Open in Pepper →Some nights you want something sweet and you are not about to dirty three bowls to get it. A mug, a spoon, and a couple of pantry things will do it, and a dump cake takes about as much effort as opening cans.
Cooks on Pepper reach for these after supper is cleared, when a kid asks for dessert at 8 p.m., or when company shows up and there is a cake mix in the cabinet.
Every recipe here is short on ingredients and quick to put together: Cookie Butter Mug Cake, Microwave Nutella Mug Cake, Oreo mug cake, Chocolate Chip Mug Cake, Peach Dump Cake, and Wild Berry Dump Cake.
Use a big mug
Pick a mug that holds at least 12 ounces and fill it no more than halfway, since the batter climbs as it cooks.
Stop the microwave early
Start checking at 60 seconds. A mug cake that looks barely set in the center will finish cooking on the counter; 30 extra seconds turns it rubbery.
Scrape the dry corners
Stir the flour and baking powder into the wet ingredients right in the mug, getting into the bottom edge where dry pockets hide.
Cover dump cake evenly
Slice the stick of butter into thin pats and lay them over the whole surface of the dry mix so you do not end up with powdery patches.
