Ingredients

  • 1 lbs Bone in chicken thighs, with skin
  • 2 tsp Lemon pepper seasoning
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Slap ya mama Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tsp Onion powder
  • 2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tbsp Minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice

Instructions

  1. 1Start by cleaning your chicken thighs, rinse under cool water and scrub with a lemon. Pat dry and set aside. Don’t forget to clean your sink afterward ☺️
  2. 2In a mixing bowl combine lemon pepper, paprika, salt, pepper, slap ya mama, garlic powder, onion powder, and olive oil. Mix well and add onto the chicken thighs. Coat evenly on top and under chicken skin. Let marinate for 2 hours on cooking rack. Marinating is optional!! If you prefer to only let sit for 15 min that works as well- the flavoring will not be as prominent.
  3. 3Preheat oven to 350 degrees, bake chicken thighs skin side up for 30 minutes. Flip over and bake again for 20 minutes.
  4. 4While chicken is baking you can start to make your sauce. In a pan add your butter and minced garlic, cook till fragrant and add your honey. Stir then add your water, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Mix until consistency becomes sticky.
  5. 5Pull the chicken from the oven and brush on the honey sauce onto the chicken skin, place the chicken back in the oven on broil to create a caramelized skin.
  6. 6Enjoy with a pasta side and some veggies 😇

Lemon And Pepper Do The Heavy Lifting

Two things you already have in the cabinet turn plain chicken into something everybody at the table finishes. Lemon pepper browns up dark and peppery on the skin, and the lemon keeps it from tasting flat.

Cooks on Pepper reach for these on the nights when supper has to be quick but not boring — a pan of thighs in the oven, wings for the game, skewers on the grill when it's too hot to cook inside.

Every recipe here leans on that same seasoning in a different way: Honey Garlic Lemon Pepper Chicken Thighs, lemon pepper chicken wings, Lemon Pepper Chicken with Butter Sauce, Grilled Lemon Pepper Chicken, a Meal Prep Lemon Pepper Chicken & Rice Bowl, and a skillet with squash and zucchini.

Quick Tips

  1. 1

    Pat the chicken dry

Blot every piece with paper towels before seasoning so the skin crisps instead of steams. Two minutes here makes a real difference on wings and thighs.

  2. 2

    Go easy on salt

Most lemon pepper blends are already salty, so taste before you add more. Start with 1 teaspoon of seasoning per pound of chicken.

  3. 3

    Finish with fresh lemon

Squeeze half a lemon over the chicken right when it comes off the heat. The bottled seasoning gives pepper, the fresh juice gives brightness.

  4. 4

Check 165 in the thickest part

Pull breasts at 165°F and thighs closer to 175°F, then rest 5 minutes before slicing so the juices stay put.
