Open in Pepper →Baked oats turn a plain bowl of oatmeal into something the kids actually come to the table for. You blend, pour, bake, and the top rises up soft and cakey while the kitchen smells like a bakery.
Cooks on Pepper reach for these on school mornings when cereal won't cut it, and on slow weekend mornings when they want something warm without standing at the stove.
Every recipe here is a real breakfast someone makes at home — Oreo Baked Oats, cookie dough baked oats, chocolate banana bread baked oats, blueberry pancake baked oats, and strawberry white chocolate baked oats.
Blend the oats smooth
Run the oats, banana, egg, and milk in the blender for about 30 seconds so the batter turns cakey instead of chewy.
Use a very ripe banana
A banana with brown spots sweetens the whole thing, so you can cut back to about 1 tablespoon of honey.
Add baking powder last
Stir in 1 teaspoon of baking powder after blending so the lift stays in the batter and the oats rise tall.
Bake until the center sets
Give it 20 to 25 minutes at 350°F, until the middle springs back and a toothpick comes out clean.
