Chicken Breasts That Taste Like Steakhouse Night

A plain chicken breast turns into something your family asks for again once you pile on bacon, melted cheese and a honey mustard sauce. It's one pan, one trip to the oven, and nobody leaves the table hungry.

Cooks on Pepper reach for this one on a Tuesday when the chicken is thawed and nobody wants another grilled plain dinner, or on a Friday when going out isn't in the budget.

Every recipe here is built the same easy way: Alice Springs Chicken – Outback Steakhouse Style, creamy cheesy bacon chicken bake, cheesy bacon ranch chicken breast, copycat Outback Alice Springs Chicken, and mushroom Swiss chicken for the nights you want mushrooms and peppers on top.

Quick Tips

  1. 1

    Pound the breasts even

Slice thick breasts in half horizontally or pound to about 1/2 inch so they cook through in 20 minutes without drying out.

  2. 2

    Cook the bacon first

Crisp 4 to 6 slices in a skillet, then sear the chicken in a spoonful of that fat for more flavor.

  3. 3

    Sear before you bake

Give the chicken 3 to 4 minutes per side in a hot skillet so it browns, then top with cheese and finish at 375°F.

  4. 4

    Add cheese at the end

Shredded cheddar or Swiss only needs the last 5 to 8 minutes in the oven to melt without going greasy.
