Open in Pepper →A good burger is the dinner nobody argues about. When it's raining, or too cold to stand outside, the air fryer gets you the same crisp edges and juicy middle in a fraction of the time.
Cooks on Pepper reach for this collection on the nights when everyone's hungry at once and the grill is covered up, or when they want burgers without heating up the whole kitchen.
Every recipe here is a burger you can make tonight: the Classic Smash Burger, the Best Hamburger Patty Recipe with crushed saltines and egg, Daddy's Hamburger Patties with onion and red pepper, Savory Bacon Croissant Smash Burgers, and Jack-o'-Lantern Smash Burgers on slider buns.
Dent the patty center
Press a shallow thumbprint about 1/2 inch wide into each raw patty so it cooks flat instead of puffing into a dome.
Preheat the basket
Run the air fryer empty at 375°F for 3 to 5 minutes so the patties start searing the second they hit the basket.
Leave room between patties
Cook 2 to 3 patties at a time with at least an inch of space around each one, so hot air can brown all the edges.
Add cheese at the end
Lay the cheese slice on during the last 30 to 60 seconds so it melts without sliding off into the basket.
