Open in Pepper →Brussels sprouts got a bad name from being boiled to death. In the air fryer they go crispy and browned at the edges in about 15 minutes, and suddenly the kids are asking for seconds.
Cooks on Pepper reach for these on busy weeknights when the oven is already full, and again at Thanksgiving when there's no rack left for one more pan.
Every recipe here is built around that crisp outside: Honey Balsamic Brussel Sprouts, Garlic Parmesan Brussels Sprouts, Smashed Parmesan Brussel Sprouts, Honey Glazed Brussel Sprouts with Bacon, and Stuffed Brussel Sprouts for when you need an appetizer.
Halve them cut side down
Trim the stem, slice each sprout in half, and lay them cut side down in the basket so that flat side gets the deepest browning.
Don't crowd the basket
Work in a single layer, even if it takes two batches of about 10 minutes each. Piled-up sprouts steam instead of crisping.
Add honey at the end
Toss with honey or hot honey in the last 2 to 3 minutes, or the sugar scorches and turns bitter before the sprouts are tender.
Shake halfway through
Pull the basket at the 7 or 8 minute mark and give it a good shake so the loose outer leaves brown instead of burning.
